Run During the Intermission

110 of the best drivers across the nation and Canada competed in the country's toughest and most extreme championship demolition derby. When the non-stop bone crushing action concluded, the 1 surviving driver was named the 2001 DENT Pro-Modified National Champion.

Fans and drivers were treated to 4 qualifying heats and a final feature event. The last 5 cars running from each heat qualified to run in the 20-car feature. The feature was run "until the death" - until the last car running made the last hit. The winner of the DENT Pro-Modified National Championship Demolition Derby took home the coveted Franklin-Root Award, the DENT Championship Ring and the largest guaranteed purse in the history of demolition derby.

To qualify for this event drivers had won a heat in the 2000 DENT National or Regional Championships. In addition, drivers may have qualified by finishing 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a feature at any other participating demolition derby.

1999 National Champ Scott "ZIZ" Zizelman of Celina, Ohio set his sights to tear up reigning 2000 National Champion Ron Stepro of Corydon, Indiana. Other DENT all-stars on hand doing some pounding of their own include Missouri's own T.J. Craft and Jack Teegarden. Michael "Slam Man" Decker of Ohio and New York State Champ Dennis Clemens Jr. and the famous Bucknam Family Demolition team of Larry, Chuck and Steve Jr. were on hand tearing up the competition. Iowa's Richard "Golden Goblin" Goemaat and home-town favorite Harold "Uncle Harry" Wagner Jr. put another thrilling show this year, going after crowd favorites such as "Big Stacks" Wess Whittaker of Illinois and Russ Mudget Sr. of Michigan.

During our intermission between the 4th Heat and the Feature, DENT hosted a special, first-time Pro-Super Modified derby. This 12 car, $1,000 winner take all event was not for the faint of heart! DENT broke all the rules for this special intermission event. Fans were treated to a tough, metal-crashing derby where they witnessed a fully welded Imperial or station wagon take on an old ambulance or even a limousine. Get out the body bags! DENT was in town.
