The 3rd Annual DENT National Championship Demolition Derby took place on Sunday, May 21, 2000 at the fabulous Indianapolis Speedrome in Indianapolis, Indiana. 
 
Over 120 champion demolition derby drivers from across the country and Canada participated in this extreme, best in its class event. The DENT National Championship is widely regarded as the toughest, most competitive demolition derby in the country. Fans and drivers at the 2000 DENT Championship reported that this year's Championship was no exception - proclaiming that the event was undoubtedly the most exciting and aggressive demolition derby they had ever experienced. 
 
Fans were treated to 4 heats of thrilling metal bending action. While heat winners prepared their cars for the feature, fans were kept on the edge of their seats watching the action from a 12 car compact demolition derby. One lucky fan from the grandstands won the opportunity to drive the Hooters car - custom prepared specifically for the compact car derby. 
 
To qualify for this championship event, drivers were required to have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a demolition derby in 1999. Ron Stepro of Corydon, Indiana, the winner of the 2000 DENT Championship Derby, walked away with $10,000, the official DENT Championship Ring and the coveted Franklin-Root Award.
